A lot of people don't seem to realise how much of our day-to-day lives are subject to gender rules and restrictions until some transgender (someone who identifies as something other than the gender they were assigned at birth) loudmouth like me points it out. But it's everywhere in our lives, influencing our behaviour, language, buying habits, and even interactions with others. Some of it is kind of ridiculous (like certain colours being meant for boys and others for girls) and I'm yet to see a gendered product that actually needed to be gendered, but for many trans folk it's a constant cause of discomfort.
