Plastic Free July - We love it! Millions of people reducing plastic waste, shopping consciously and ethically and picking up eco friendly, zero-waste habits that could last a life time - what's not to love?
It can seem a little daunting as single use plastics are so inescapable, but it's not about perfection, it's about making the eco-friendly swaps that work for us. After all, if a swap works well for us, we're more likely to keep doing it and that's the important thing! Plastic Free July is by no means a chore and there is so much fun to be found in embracing new ideas.
1. Takeaway without the Throw-away
Quite possibly one of the easiest things you can do this Plastic Free July is investing in a reusable takeaway drinks cup. You can pick one up almost anywhere now - plastic free and even biodegradable ones! I always make sure to pop a reusable cup in my bag when I head out for a day of errands, shopping or a coffee date with a friend - essentially I am never without one! It really does make such a difference. Don't forget you can use them for take away cold drinks too!
Fancy a piece of cake? Maybe a takeaway sandwich or snack with your drink? Bring a reusable tupperware or a snack bag with you to save on single use takeaway packaging.
We have a wide range of eco-friendly, zero-waste, reusable food bags and food wraps to help you this Plastic Free July.

2. Refill, Refill, Refill!
Intrigued by refillable, zero-waste, plastic-free food shopping, or perhaps a new loose, refill store has just opened in your town? Then Plastic Free July could be a fantastic time to pop in and have a go yourself. When you chose to shop using refills, you are completely cutting out any unnecessary plastic packaging, you're shopping more consciously and less wastefully as you can literally just buy as much as you need.
You can take any reusable packaging you like to refill stores but if you fancy investing in something more substantial, Our New Glass Jars with Cork Lids will be the ultimate companion to take with you on your zero waste, plastic-free, refillable shopping adventure.

3. Seek out Plastic-Free Foods!
If refillable grocery shopping isn't an option, try making some conscious choices to avoid single-use plastic in your food shop. When buying fruit and veg either opt for the plastic-free, loose options in the fruit and veg aisle or go to a greengrocers as part of your food shop routine. This will reduce the amount of plastic coming into your kitchen!
Another thing you can do is go to a bakery for your bread, as opposed to the supermarket. The bread aisle and bakery sections in supermarkets are full of plastic packaging, whereas a bakery should hopefully offer paper bags instead.
Most supermarkets, bakeries and greengrocers will now have recyclable paper bags to use instead of plastic ones, but why not ditch disposable packaging all together and take along some reusable food bags? Our Mesh Bags, Cotton Produce Bags and Luxury Linen Produce Bags will cut out unnecessary packaging all together! Just pop them in the wash between shops.

So many of our kitchen cupboard and fridge favourites come in plastic packaging, whether we like it or not, but you don't have to give them up this Plastic Free July! Why not have a go at making them yourself? I am a self-confessed snacker but I hate the guilt of the single use plastic packaging.
